The Goan Culinary Club with O Coqueiro presents

Those that eat together, stay together. Every year all over Goa each and every village celebrates in style - its local fest . Celebrated with pomp & splendour, the entire village gets suited & booted for prayers, fairs, and of course for traditional scrumptious dishes washed down by the local feni . The Goa Culinary Club in its endeavour to highlight and revive traditional foods and stir up pride in all things Goan , are beginning celebrations of the Global Goan week  with an evening of fun, great food, music & tambola at O Coqueiro, Porvorim on Tuesday  the 14th of August  2012.

On the eve of the feast of Our Lady of Assumption the Goan Culinary Club will celebrate this evening with traditional dishes prepared by our mothers & grandmothers for the local village fest. At 6.00 pm, a talk by noted Goan historian Ms. Maria de Lourdes Costa Brava Rodrigues on the arrival of the Portuguese and their impact on our food and also on Goan tradition. Also the Gen Next...their views on the legacy of food and traditions left behind by our ancestors. Join us for the discussions with tea/coffee and the traditional patoloyos at a nominal rate of just Rs. 100 per person.

This will be followed by an evening of fun & nostalgia with local serenaders Kalchi Kodi entertaining people with Konkani  and Portuguese renditions, mandos & dhulpods flowing out of traditional instruments such as the violin, ghumot and the guitar. Tambola and happy hour with spirits at concessional rates and the festache cuisine prepared by Chef Peter & his team. Choose from the a la carte menu -Aard Maas, Sambarachi Kodi, Beef Roulade, Lullas Recheado, Seafood Pilau, are just some of the special dishes and many more traditional favourites.

So be there with your friends & family and let’s bring in the celebrations of the World Goa Day - celebrate Goa and all things Goan in style ... Viva re Viva.
